TEAMS MAKING RESERVATIONS FOR THE LE MANS 24HRS 2009

Already our guest teams at this years 24Hrs have expressed an interest in returning to us in 2009. We have received full information from the ACO, race organisers  and details of our 2009 packages can be found on this web site. Please keep an eye on this site for latest information on availability.

NEW INTERNATIONAL EVENT – THE CULZEAN AUTOCLASSICA

Lemob.com’s sister company Autospirit hosted there major new event at the magnificent Culzean Castle in Ayrshire SW Scotland. Log on to our web site www.culzeanautoclassica.com for details and reports. The Autoclassica is something different, the nearest equivalent being a smaller version of the Goodwood Speed Festival perhaps.

LE MANS 24 HRS 2008

This year ,working together with our friends at Project 100 and Detaglio,  we were please to have a number of teams join us as our resident guests during the 24hrs. These included the Embassy Racing Team at Château d'Eporcé, the Essex Porsche Spyder Team at Gaignie and Prodrive.  Teams are, as one would expect, are completely focussed on the race, but it was a pleasure when the members of the Embassy team including drivers accepted our invitation and joined  resident and camping guests after the race on Sunday for the Farewell Barbecue at Eporcé. Hearing first hand stories about the race from both team members and drivers was a great thrill for everyone.

This year's only disappointment was that Stratstones, who we had worked hard for and introduced them to our Château La Groirie camp site in 2007 as camping package clients of our associate company Travel Destinations Ltd, decided to go it alone this year. They moved in to take over the château, arguably copying our tried and tested camping format at La Groirie which we had developed over more than ten years.

In 2009 Travel Destinations Ltd have tied up with Octane Magazine to offer VIP Camping packages at Eporcé designed in consultation with ourselves. These will be competitively priced and offer an option to those who are considering taking one of the Stratstone 2009 Le Mans Experience Packages. We are please to be continuing our association with this excellent publication, started when they kindly sponsored the Culzean Autoclassica Concours d'Elegance this year.

LE MANS CLASSIC 2008

In the last few years we have paid host to many major teams competing at both the 24Hrs and Classic.  This year was no exception  although our friends, the team from America who had booked to join us at Château d’Eporce for the Classic regrettably had to pull out at the last minute. The weather was kind to us and apart from some early showers at the beginning, we bathed in sunshine. This year we introduced our new marquee for the barbecue receptions and hosted almost 200 seated guests for the Friday Celebration Barbecue and slightly less for the Sunday Farewell buffet style barbecue. Always a great atmosphere, the Classic didn't let us down and we all enjoyed the company of both old friends and new.  The next Classic in 2010 promises to be a sell out so make your plans and reservations early.

PAST EVENT REPORTS

Le Mans 24 Hrs 16/17th June 2007

The 2007 Le Mans 24Hrs will go down as on of the wettest on record. Those clients who arrived at the beginning of race week and the Le Mob Team who had the task of setting up our château campsites at Château d’Eporcé and Château La Groirie were the only ones lucky to see the sun shinning. Our 400 camping clients including the Pendragon Stratstones Group were not so lucky when they arrived on site on the Thursday and those who had hired our pre erected tents were truly grateful of this. However it was great to see the true Brit spirit coming out and despite the inclement weather clients accepted that sometimes it can rain at Le Mans and were determined to enjoy their Le Mans experience.

This year the White Lightning Team from U.S.A, who have stayed with us at Château d’Eporcé for the last two years couldn’t make it due to their cars being damaged in the ALMS the week before. However we were pleased to welcome Blank Canvas with Dr Betz and the Aston Martin organization to Eporcé whose guests included Sir Stirling Moss. We also entertained regular clients Porsche Centre Cambridge and groups from Peugeot UK and Gulf who made up part of the 200 plus guests staying in our properties. Other regular “Le Mobsters” included members from all the major clubs including Club Lotus, MGOC and Porsche Club GB etc.

Despite the weather many guest departed on a high note and looking forward to 2008 when we shall be present at both the 24hrs and the Classic Le Mans.

Le Mans Classic 2006 July 8/9

The baking hot weather continued from the 24Hrs in June and over 500 guests enjoyed a full programme of action at the Classic Le Mans. We were pleased to welcome guests from all parts of the world including members of at least two competing teams and the MG Owners Club and Club Lotus. The gatherings for celebration meals at Château d'Eporcé and the Abbaye de Champagne were a great success and the enormous variety of classic and sports cars assembled as usual created huge interest. New venues Fardeliere and La Belle Fontaine proved very popular and our regular 24Hrs group party from the Porsche Centre Cambridge staying at Amboise enjoyed their first visit to the Classic Le Mans.

Le Mans 24 Hrs 17/18th June 2006

We were yet again fully booked for a very hot and sunny 24Hrs. Guests included the welcome return of the Porsche White Lightning Team from the US. They came over from Eporcé to Moné on number occasions between the test weekend and the race for a BBQ and glass of wine. They are super group of guys and always pleased to tell you the latest trackside news and gossip. Sadly they crashed out in the early hours of Sunday morning but still managed to join us for the farewell BBQ at Eporcé on the Sunday night.

The Campsite at Château Eporcé was again brimming over with a fine selection of cars. Camping at the Le Mans 24Hrs is a tradition and not simply confined to those with a limited budget. This was clearly evident by the number of exotic cars on the campsite. Ferrari, Porsche, Aston. Bentley, Jaguar, Lotus, TVR, to name but a few marques present.

Le Mans 24 Hrs 2004 June 12/13

Glorious sunny weather was enjoyed by all 350 of our guests at this years Le Mans 24hrs. Those camping at Chateau la Groirie found it the relaxed haven for many classic marque sports cars such as Porsche, Lotus, Ferrari, MG, Aston Martin. Jaguar, TVR, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo to name but a few. Ninety guests enjoyed the Friday Banquet and over one hundred and twenty the Farewell BBQ on Sunday evening. See photos on Recent Events.

Our group party from the Lancaster Porsche Centre staying at Amboise enjoyed their tour of the Loire Chateaux and meeting up with Derek Bell. Derek as ever was his usual charming self and autographed guest's circuit tickets and chatted away to everyone.

Many guests have provisionally reserved their space for next years race on 18/19th June.

Le Mans Classic 2004 July 24/25

Well over one hundred Callander Classic guests enjoyed a memorable time at the second Classic Le Mans July 24/25. One guest described our time there as being two events, one at the circuit and the other at Mone, one of our venues, where all our guests at some time during the weekend enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and BBQ meals.

The celebration informal dinner at the Abbaye de Champagne also proved a great success and the traditional local fare served in no less than seven courses was enjoyed in a typically prolonged dinner leaving most filled to the gunnels, some exhausted but everyone content.

The next Le Mans Classic is going to be very busy indeed judging by the requests from guests to return with us in 2006, not to mention those who intend to join us for the Le Mans 24hrs June 11/12 2005. Photos of our time at the Classic can be seen on our Recent Events page and on our official photographers web site www.nexus-photography.co.uk
